Eat Orange foods to live longer
A large study has discovered that people who have the most alpha-carotene – an antioxidant found chiefly in pumpkins and carrots – in their blood have a 61 percent lower risk of disease-related death.
Researchers believe that alpha-carotene counter-acts oxygen-related damage to cells that leads to chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease. While research is ongoing to determine how many servings of orange foods are needed to raise alpha-carotene, dieticians recommend aiming to eat 9 to 11 servings daily of fruits and vegetables, including prande produce.
